Hi guys/gals, I am bringing a fly designed by Steven Bird. Big Sur Shrimp

Hook: #4-#6 TMC 200R (Surfperch like a big bait, I usually fish the #4. Or a tandem with a #6 & a #4.)

Thread: Red or orange

Tailing: In order: pinch of red midge flash; olive marabou; pinch of olive midge flash; a pinch of red midge flash; olive-dyed barred mallard flank feather wound forward, then tied back & down; red-dyed mallard flank feather tied back & down (I start building the tail at about even with the hook point.)

Body: ‘Peacock’ or dark olive chenille (I tie some with orange) Underwrap with lead wire & shape with thread.

Hackle: Olive midge flash around the hook shank, extending to the tail; go over the olive midge flash with a pinch of red midge flash; a turn of olive-dyed mallard flank feather; then a turn of red-dyed mallard flank feather

Head: A few turns of olive dubbing with some red chopped into it – & finish. Below a picture with some slight variations. > >See you tomorrow! > >Peter
